About Butterfly Kids

Butterfly Kids was founded in 2005 by a group of parents with children with disabilities after finding a lack of services and support to meet the very specialised needs that families require. These parents joined together to form an Incorporated Body – “Butterfly Kids” to offer families caring for children a support network.

Butterfly Kids spread its wings and became a registered charity in 2007 with the help of community minded friends all wanting to help those less fortunate than themselves. This dedicated committee successfully fundraises money and devotes many volunteering hours to the charity's numerous projects.

Those benefiting have been Individuals requiring specialised equipment, Special Education Units requiring equipment and program funding and to the newly acquired Day Centre –
Butterfly House”. “Butterfly Wishes” are also granted and have provided Dolphin Swims, Theme Park Excursions and Short Breaks away for families.

In 2008, Butterfly Kids began to walk the next part of their journey by becoming a division of Integrated Family Youth Service and opening “Butterfly House” where a variety of programs will run from.

Butterfly Kids is a “One Stop Shop” of information, support, services & advocacy for those with disabilities.

The name “Butterfly Kids” was chosen as it represented the unique challenge of life kids faced with disabilities.
